Can you imagine a holiday season without the time-honored tradition, The Nutcracker: A Tale from the Bayou?
We can't either!
For the past 34 years, Baton Rouge has enjoyed the mystery and beauty of The Nutcracker: A Tale from the Bayou. This year, we are once again welcoming the community for a very special private performance on Thursday, December 17, 2026.
Under the new artistic direction of Rebecca Acosta and Jonna Cox we invite you to join us for an evening of magic, music provided by the Baton Rouge Symphony and a powerful display of artistry at the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s fundraiser, Night at the Nutcracker. As our guest, your support will greatly enhance our mission to deliver high quality arts education, performances, and programs to the Baton Rouge community.
The Baton Rouge Ballet provides thousands of dollars in scholarship annually to those students in our community who do not have access to dance and arts programs. Core to our mission is the belief that everyone deserves the chance to witness and express their creativity through the arts. Be it performing in The Nutcracker or discovering a passion for dance through our Ballet for Every Body program, we strive to connect with our community in every way possible.
Over the years, the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre has worked hard to become one of Baton Rouge’s crown jewels, evolving into a nationally recognized arts organization. With your support, we can expand our breadth and reach while continuing to have a crucial impact on our economy, our patrons, and our community.
Your enchanting evening will begin with heavy hors d'oeuvres, wine, and beer as the Ballet's Co-Artistic Directors and Symphony Conductor chat about the production. Later, you'll watch the curtain rise on The Nutcracker: A Tale from the Bayou, the first performance of the season. During intermission, enjoy champagne and sweets with actors in costume before making your way back into the theatre.
We hope you join us in support of the arts community in Baton Rouge.
