Know Before You Go:
Auditions for The Nutcracker - A Tale from the Bayou will be held on September 13th, 2026 at the Neuromedical Center Studio at The Dancers' Workshop, 10745 Linkwood Ct. Don't miss the magic of performing on stage in Baton Rouge's beloved holiday tradition. The roles your child may receive include mice, lambs, cherubs, cooks, party children, and toy soldiers. Audition day can be a bit hectic, so we'll be breaking it down for you here. For a smoother process, we recommend registering ahead of time and arriving 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time!
Registration prices vary! The price will increase to $30 if registered the day of auditions.
There is nothing quite like the magic of performing in The Nutcracker, a cherished holiday tradition and beloved family experience in Baton Rouge for generations. Selected children will have the extraordinary opportunity to perform live on stage alongside the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra.

Attire:
Girls: leotard with tights and ballet slippers; hair up in a bun
Boys: white T-shirt with shorts and socks
What to expect:
Times vary by age group, please see the schedule below to confirm your audition time.
Upon arrival, you will check in with our team, and your child (dancer) will receive their identification number.
The dancer's height will be verified. then, we will line the dancers up by height, and the parents will sit in the waiting room.
The dancers will be brought into the studio and taught various combinations in accordance with their age.
Once learned, the combination will be performed row by row.
When the audition has been completed, your dancer will exit through the side door, and parents will meet them there.
As the audition is taking place, an informational meeting will be held with the parents. We will answer any questions you have.

2026 Audition Schedule:
12:30 - 1:15: Boys 8*- 12 years
12:45 - 1:30: Girls 8* yrs. - 3rd grade
1:45 - 2:30: Girls 4th grade
2:45 - 3:30: Girls 5th-6th grade
3:45 - 4:30: Girls 7th-8th grade
*Must be 8 years old by December 1, 2026.
Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will be held at The Dancers' Workshop, 10745 Linkwood Ct., one day a week on either Saturday or Sunday, depending on the role. Rehearsals will begin the weekend of October 11th. Additional details will be covered during the parent meeting, taking place as children audition.
